Today is dedicated to exploring Fes, the spiritual and cultural capital of Morocco. You’ll want to take in every detail of the narrow streets of the medina so you can share this once-in-a-lifetime experience with your friends and family!

Imagine shops overflowing with slippers in every color, sparkling hammered gold plates, and walls adorned with red and brown carpets…

As you wander a bit further, you’re likely to encounter a stunning mosaic fountain amidst the daily hustle and bustle. Can you smell fresh bread? Your guide will share that every neighborhood has its own bakery and fountain.

You’ll visit the weavers, where you can watch them craft beautiful textiles right before your eyes. Be sure to pick out a scarf to take with you to the Sahara Desert! Lunch Stop in Midelt
About halfway through your journey, you’ll stop in Midelt for lunch. This town is renowned for its fascinating fossils, and you’ll be amazed by the craftsmanship of local artisans who create beautiful pieces from these fossils.
Approaching Merzouga
As you near your destination, picture the dusty pink buildings that greet you at the « Gate of the Sahara. » Feel the warmth of the dry air and watch as the scenery gradually transitions into the vast desert. It’s a captivating way to end your day!

Spend your morning exploring this charming desert town, soaking in its unique atmosphere. In the afternoon, you’ll embark on an exciting four-wheel drive journey to the Sahara sand dunes. Initially, the terrain will be flat and dusty, but soon, towering dunes will appear before you, stretching across the horizon.

As you marvel at the ripples in the sand, you might find yourself imagining the sensation of water, even though none is in sight. In the cool morning air, the sand feels pleasant underfoot, allowing you to walk barefoot and enjoy the sensation of grains slipping between your toes.
Picture yourself swaying gently on a camel as you make your way to the traditional Berber tents, your shadow dancing along the curves of the dunes.

You have the option to spend the night in the tents, where you can sip refreshing mint tea and listen to vibrant music before drifting off to sleep beneath a starlit sky.

Awaken in the cool desert air and embark on a camel trek back to your hotel. After freshening up, you’ll hop back into the 4×4 for a drive toward Erfoud. From there, your driver will guide you behind the majestic High Atlas Mountains, passing clusters of palm trees and quaint Berber villages on your way to Todra Gorges.

As you arrive, you’ll feel small in the presence of towering walls of grey and amber rock rising majestically on both sides.

You’ll spend the night in Boumalne, near the gorges, or in Ouarzazate before you continue your journey across the High Atlas Mountains.

On your way, take a moment to stop and admire Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, a stunning red clay fortress recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its remarkable southern Moroccan architecture. You might feel like you’ve stepped onto a movie set, and that’s no surprise—Ouarzazate is known as the « film capital of Morocco » and has served as a backdrop for numerous films.

As you re-enter the vibrant life of Moroccan cities, you’ll make your way into Marrakech, where the energy is palpable. Head to the famous Djemaa el-Fna, one of the city’s main attractions.
