itinerary:
We will meet you at your accommodation in Marrakech and begin our journey to the Dades Valley, traveling via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass and over the High Atlas Mountains. During the day, you will enjoy stunning views of Berber villages and witness the changing landscapes.
Our first stop will be in Ourazazat, where you will visit the Kasbah Taourirt, one of the most beautiful kasbahs in the area. After exploring the kasbah, you’ll have lunch nearby before continuing to the Dades Gorge along the road known as “the Thousand Kasbahs,” which offers numerous opportunities for capturing beautiful photos of the scenery and local culture.
We will make a stop in Skoura, located in the Birds Valley, to see the historic Kasbah of Ameridhil, which dates back to the 18th century. Next, we’ll head to Kalaat Mgouna, renowned for its roses and the annual rose festival held during the harvest in May.
Finally, we will arrive in the Dades Valley, where you can marvel at the unique rock formations famously referred to as “the monkey toes.” You will spend the night in a charming riad or hotel in the Dades Valley.
After enjoying breakfast at your accommodation, you will depart from the Dades Valley and head towards Tinerghir and the Todra Valley. As you travel, take in the panoramic views of the ancient mud Berber villages that overlook the valley.
Upon reaching the Todra Gorge, you will have the opportunity to walk beneath the impressive 300-meter-high red cliffs, a favorite spot for rock climbers. After an optional one-hour hike in the valley, your journey will continue to Erfoud and then to the village of Merzouga, where your camel will be waiting for you.
You will be welcomed with a glass of refreshing mint tea and provided with a turban (desert scarf) before mounting your camel. Guided by an experienced camel handler, you will explore the enchanting sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. Enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the Sahara Desert and watch the sunset over the golden dunes.
Later, you will have dinner in front of the camp, where you will spend your first night beneath the canvas—or, if you prefer, under the stars. For your comfort, our camp is equipped with western-style bathrooms.
Your camel guide will wake you early in the morning for what could be the best sunrise of your life. After enjoying the magnificent view, you will trek back to the village of Merzouga. As you make your way back, take a moment to appreciate the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes, which change with the light throughout the day.
After breakfast at your riad, you will embark on an exploratory journey of the surrounding area. You will visit the village of the Gnawa people, descendants of former slaves brought from Sudan, to experience their rich music and lifestyle.
Next, you will head to Rissani, formerly known as Sijilmassa, which is the historical foundation of the Alaouite dynasty, the current ruling family of Morocco. In this traditional Moroccan town, you will notice many women veiled and men wearing hoods, reflecting the local customs.
Continuing your journey, you will drive towards Agdez, passing through Alnif and Tazzarine, before arriving at the fascinating Draa Valley at the edge of the Atlas Mountains, where hundreds of Berber kasbahs can be found.
Finally, you will reach Ouarzazate, where you will be accommodated in a comfortable riad or hotel.
Early in the morning, your camel guide will wake you up to witness what may very well be the best sunrise of your life. You will then enjoy a peaceful camel trek back to the village of Merzouga, where you can appreciate the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi sand dunes, which change in appearance with the light throughout the day.
After breakfast, you will begin your journey to Fes, traveling through the stunning Ziz Valley and Azrou. Along the way, you will marvel at the fascinating landscape of the magnificent Ziz Gorges, carved through volcanic rock, and cross the Tizi n’ Talghamt Pass to reach Midelt.
After enjoying lunch in Midelt, your journey will continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains and the Cedar Forest, where you may spot Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.
Finally, you will proceed to Fes, where the tour will conclude at your accommodation.
Today, we will explore the oldest city in Morocco, winding through its narrow alleys and streets. Our sightseeing will begin at the Royal Palace gate, followed by a visit to the Jewish Quarter, where the first Mellah in Morocco was established in the 16th century.
We’ll make sure to visit all sites of cultural and historical significance, including the renowned Al Qaraouine University, the oldest university in the region. Additionally, we’ll explore the Tanneries, the Attarine Museum, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss.
After enjoying lunch, you’ll visit various cooperatives to see local artisans at work, and we’ll conclude the day with a stunning panoramic view of the entire Medina of Fes.
We will begin our two-day trip from Fes to Chefchaouen after breakfast at the riad or hotel. Our driver/guide will pick you up, and we will head to Chefchaouen, traveling through the stunning landscapes of the Rif Mountains.
Chefchaouen is a popular destination in Morocco, attracting thousands of visitors each year. It is a charming and tranquil town nestled in the heart of the Rif Mountains, south of the Mediterranean Sea in northern Morocco.
The city is renowned for its soothing shades of blue, which are said to help reduce blood pressure almost instantly. Often referred to as the « blue pearl » or « blue city » of Morocco, the buildings of Chefchaouen are painted with talc or chalk, creating a captivating atmosphere.
Enjoy a leisurely walk through the medina to explore its white and blue walls, as well as the markets that feature unique indigenous crafts. With its breathtaking views of the Rif Mountains, Chefchaouen is an excellent spot for photography. You will spend the night in a riad or hotel, including a bed and breakfast.
On the second day of your adventure, wake up feeling refreshed and ready for more exploration. After enjoying a delicious breakfast, say goodbye to Chefchaouen and continue your journey to Tétouan. Known for its rich cultural heritage and Andalusian influences, Tétouan offers a captivating blend of Moroccan and Spanish flavors.
Explore the bustling Medina of Tétouan, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Stroll through narrow streets lined with whitewashed buildings adorned with colorful tiles and intricate balconies. Discover the city’s treasures, from vibrant markets and aromatic spice souks to historic landmarks like the Royal Palace and the Kasbah.
Immerse yourself in the fascinating history, architecture, and traditions that make Tétouan a true gem of Morocco.
In the afternoon, leave Tétouan and head towards Tangier, the vibrant coastal city that serves as a gateway between Africa and Europe. Upon your arrival in Tangier, soak in the lively atmosphere as you explore its dynamic medina.
Get lost in the maze of narrow streets, where artisans showcase their crafts and the aromas of traditional Moroccan cuisine fill the air. Don’t miss the iconic Grand Socco, a bustling square where locals gather and stories intertwine.
As your adventure comes to an end, take a moment to enjoy the panoramic views from Cap Spartel, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea. Savor the beauty and grandeur of the coastal landscape before bidding farewell to Tangier.
With cherished memories of historical wonders, captivating cities, and picturesque landscapes, your 7-day journey from Marrakesh to Tangier concludes. Return home with a newfound appreciation for Morocco’s diverse cultural tapestry and natural splendor.
